Who We Are
Regional Science Magazine, an academic as well as a service-oriented student-led club at Shanghai American School Puxi high school, is looking for writers who are passionate and are willing to share their scientific knowledge with the underprivileged local community. Each writer writes an article about a scientific topic in Chinese. The target audience is the local underprivileged youth in Shanghai.
There are three main purposes:
(1) to improve the lives of the underprivileged children by providing educational support;
(2) to develop the underprivileged younger students’ interest in science and to expand their knowledge about science;
(3) to share knowledge and interact with the local community through science.
Regional Science Magazine club was founded in January of 2012 and successfully published its inaugural issue in February with the title of 科学好朋友 (Science Buddy).
Science Buddy is published monthly in hard copy and distributed free-of-charge to a total of about 500 children.
